The Pre Trip preparation is all the preparations required before the moving truck and crew head out for the day. This program addresses the five critical components for the Pre Trip Preparation, some of which are required by law.

General preparations include : vehicle, personnel, equipment, documentation, and communication.

Legal requirements and liability concerns are some of the reasons for conducting the pre trip prep in addition to efficiency and professionalism.

The objective of this course is to ensure the safety of the crew and public while obtaining the most efficient use of their time and efforts. A well organized crew is more professional. An efficiently conducted pre trip preparation can eliminate most of the problems a move crew may face during the day, making the difference between a successful and profitable day or not.

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to have a moving truck and crew prepared for the day with nothing slipping through the cracks.

The purpose of this program is to raise awareness of the increased safety risks and hazards of operating a commercial vehicle in residential area which is one of the greatest liabilities of a moving company. Learn about the hazards and risks as well as how to reduce and prevent incidents and accidents.

It is the preparation and protecting of the residence for moving household goods. the objective of the pre move preparation of the residence is to protect the client’s physical property; floors, walls, doors, etc. while moving, however the greatest benefit is to demonstrate the movers positive attitude, professionalism, and that they care enough about the client and their possessions to take the time and spend the money to protect their property from damage.

Setting up the truck at the residence is all the planning and procedures required to safely park the truck and prepare to load or unload at the residence.

The focus on setting up the truck at the residence is to get the truck as close to the working area as possible while first recognizing and respecting the safety concerns involved with parking a truck.

Topics covered include:

• Which direction to park the truck if on a incline
• Opening cargo doors; both roll up and swing doors.
• Setting up the walk board ramp
• Operating lift gates

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to identify the typical issues and hazards associated with parking a truck in preparation to load or unload.

The objective of the Pre Move Preparation of the Inventory is to prepare the household goods for handling and loading, to prevent damage and be most efficient with our use of time and space.

There are three categories for the pre move preparation of the inventory.

• Packing the loose inventory into boxes.
• Preparation and disassembly of the furniture.
• Disconnecting appliances.

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to recognize most house hold goods that need to be prepared for moving and be able to perform those preparations.

Lifting, carrying and handling is the process required to professionally and efficiently move household goods without personal injury or damage.
By following company policies and proper procedure, while paying attention to detail and utilizing prudent judgment, employees can reduce the risk of injuries.

• Knowledge of how to most efficiently and effectively utilize the available resources to move household goods.
• Proper tools, equipment and proper use- Tools and equipment utilized in the moving industry to make the job safer, easier and more efficient.

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to identify the best option to move any household goods item based on safety, efficiency and damage prevention.

This course is designed to help identify the proper moving equipment and their application for moving household goods safely, most efficiently making the move crews job easier. Proper use of each piece of equipment and safety concerns are emphasized.

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to identity the best moving equipment option for practically any item being encountered on a move.

Is the process of confirming that everything has been done that needs to be done before the truck leaves the job site. This is a simple process that adds to the credibility of the mover to ensure they are taking care of business.

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to walk through the residence and confirm the job is complete, that nothing is left unfinished or unaccounted for. He should also be able to communicate with the client to assure them that their move is complete.

There are two ways to reduce damage claims: Reduce the damages and reduce the claims. The claims reduction program is designed to reduce claims filed ethically, legally and morally. Claims reduction is essential to every moving company whether a damage claim problem exists or not.
